I am starting my first project on a floor loom that has 8 shafts and 10 treadles. My current project will be woven on 4 shafts and the treadling draft requires the following sequence:
1 and 2, then 3 and 4 repeated 4 times.
next
2 and 3 then 1 and 4 repeated 4 times.
next
3 and 4 then 1 and 2 repeated 4 times.
and finally
1 and 4 then 2 and 3 repeated 4 times.
So it would seem to me that I need to set up just 4 treadles tied to 1 and 2, 2 and 3, 3 and 4 and 1 and 4.
If I've got that right, I plan to tie 1 and 2 to the farthest right hand treadle, 3 and 4 to the farthest left hand pedal, then 1 and 4 to 4th treadle from right and 2 and 3 to 4th treadle from left, resulting in the following tie-up from left to right:
3 and 4, space, space, 2 and 3, space, space, 1 and 4, space, space, 1 and 2
Have I got it right?
