Have you taken them off the loom yet?  They will shrink in length once you release them from tension and wash them.  I cannot tell from your question if you are measuring on or off the loom.

Thanks, Deb.  Measuring off tension, but on the loom. Will they shrink in width as well?  (because they're "right on" with the prescribed width.)  I have my warp tension really tight, I'm beating in both sheds and even using a sword to mash it in!  This is hard work! :-)

Rep Weave Mug Rugs.  Finished length is supposed to be 5.5", mine are coming out 6.25".  I know this is because I cannot get the beat any tighter.  Any suggestions welcome. 

A day later:  I have discovered beating in both sheds, while open, helps quite a bit.  They're turning out nice and square now.  So I will end up with two (bad) samples and hopefully 10 good square mug rugs.  :-)
