Beautiful towels...

Our guild is starting a study group each weaver focusing on a different weave structure. I'm planning on doing an 8Shaft block weave design.  Your towels inspire me!

In your directions you have 7 - is that 7 yards of warp?  Each towel finishes to 19 inches wide from 11.25 inches on the loom - right?  How long is each towel?  How many finished towels did you get from 7 yards of warp?

Thanks for your help!

Dear Suzy,

Thanks for the compliment. Here are a few more details about this project:

  • Warp: 7 yards long
  • Length of each towel on loom without tension: 32"
  • Finished towel size: 19" x 27" (after hemming and machine wash and dry)
  • Yield: Seven towels

I hope you have as much fun weaving twill blocks as I do.

Regards,

Claudia

Notes

These were designed to make the most of the "bumpy" transition between blocks in the 8H twill. This design is purposely asymmetric. Although the outcome is pleasing, I plan to tweak the draft a bit for the next threading. The colors and the borders make me especially happy.
