It has proven to be quite functional. :)

thanks everyone!

It has worked fine for the rags... but the straying of the warp, i think, would not work for something requiring more precision.  plenty of tension, but the strands pull side to side.  I really want to replace the upper and lower pipes with 2" dowels and the heddle bar or bars with 1".   but I can't find dowels longer than 3' locally..   the 2" rail (like for a stairway) with a flat bottom is the closest I have found.  and I just don't know about the heddle bars.

closet rods are up to 6' long and can be purchased from any lumber yard, Actually I think you can get them even longer. they are 2" diameter. elaine

is quite impressive........

yes.. i think $2.10 for the 6' is very good.. if they actually do have them in stock..... at that price, i think 1 5/16 might be good for both the beams and the heddles..  it's fir though, dont know about the flex...  i would think 6' of clothes hanging  shouldn't be more than the tension on the loom....   maybe?    but at that price... i'm willing to try it.

thanks,

the 6' closet rods rock...   they were not $2.10.... more like 5.50... but beautiful.  got 6 of them.  (doubled the ongoing cost of the loom, haha)
