Peggy, I need some help here to understand your spread sheet.

  • why do you have a target of 5YR 7/12 then a target of 5YR 8/12?  which is it?
  • It looks like you are using the system where you have a DOS for each color, is that what the column labeled % is?
  • the most important thing, the Munsell notation, is missing from all.  How are you deciding how to adjust your formula?

I said NOT to use polar red for the color wheel colors and Isuggested that Emerald was too dark and dull for these bright, clear colors.  I'd be glad to help but I need to see the Munsell Notations to get any ideas.

Karren, I am not sure what happened because I looked last night for messages and (I think) early this morning and nothing new came through which was surprising to me.  I'm sorry I didn't see this until too late.

The target numbers must be a typo.  I was trying to get something in for discussion when my mom called with leaky roof issues.  I was trying very hard to not make a mistake and I did.  Thank-you for bringing it to my attention so I can correct it to 5YR 7/ 12.

The percents are the DOS for each color with a column near the end that has a total DOS for the sample.

The massage that I had on Monday went very deep and I have been swollen and in pain so I was not able to do the Munsell notation.  In trying to do other dyeing batches, I was doing some calculations in my head a few days ago working with the HVC numbers.  The worksheet that you put on Google Doc will be very helpful.  What took away from the class this morning is that I am too timid with my percent changes after seeing your 5, 25, and 50%.  I am breaking out of a rut in doing small amounts with the color matching that I've done previously.

I will re-do the 5PR using something other than Polar Red.  I'm sorry for forgetting this.
