Hello,

I just purchased a used Macomber loom, it's a B4E with 12 harness. Now comes the tricky part, moving it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not sure I will have help in moving it. I don't want to take it apart (at least not all the way), I'm thinking of using furniture dollies to wheel it onto a truck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Remove easy things: harnesses, beater, warp and cloth beams, and footrest. Then tie the front and back beams to the castle. I haven't done it, but I think you can remove the front beam pretty easily with a wrench if you want to try that. The back beam and treadle assembly are probably too much trouble. Be careful of the treadles so they don't get snapped off. It might be worth it to keep the front beam and foot rest in place to protect them. A B4E will be quite heavy (around 400 lbs), but a great deal of the weight is in the harnesses. Use work gloves to protect your hands from the corners of the boards. I found it easiest to lift from the bottom frame, but I was moving a smaller loom (with help).

I agree with Barry. Remove everything that is easily removable and secure the treadles. Removing the warp and cloth beams is easy as well. I would not try to unscrew anything as you might weaken the joint. I would get help. I just moved out a 40 inch and we did all of the above, and 4 peeps still had a challenge getting it out and into the back of a truck. Good luck!
