I combined the striping pattern from Handwoven with the materials used in a woven sample at my local weaving shop. I warped for 12 plus some extra and got one extra so far. I cut off the 13 already woven and am tying on another, shorter warp to do 4-5 more so I can give a set of four or six to my daughter's busdriver next week. My in-laws will get the 12-13 remaining. They use placemats for everyday use to protect their antique table so I made a lot so they can always have clean ones to pull out without having to wash right away. This is a thank-you gift because they brought me my Schacht loom from North Carolina after I bought it on eBay.

Your placemats are beautiful.  What are they made of?  I would love to weave some.  Thanks,  Merry Jo

Thanks!  I used 10/2 perle cotton in the warp, sett at 24EPI.  About 1" from each side, do 3" of random stripes with the cream and 2 other colors.  For the weft, alternate 2 picks of mop cotton with 2 picks of 5/2 perle cotton (I used the darker brown from the stripes for the weft).  A little in from each end, use the other color (red, in my case) for 3 sets of 2 picks in between the mop cotton, then switch back to the brown.
