And just a note: Can't make the whole weekend? Come for the day!

...and shared with my guild at the December meeting.I want to be ready with my selections when registration opens!

MAFA conferences offer an opportunity to learn and explore a topic in depth. Choose one workshop from among 40 offerings and be prepared to immerse yourself.

I thought I would repost a photo from MAFA 2015. The best part for me is the informal opportunities to talk to other weavers, and the three day intensive class time. I get so much more out of a workshop where we have time to implement what we are learning, right on the loom.

Attention MAFA guild members: MAKE SURE YOUR GUILD DUES HAVE BEEN PAID --So you can register for MAFA 2017 conference on Jan. 2.
(Members of guilds that have not will miss a month of priority registration.)

Drool over the choices as you decide what workshop you want to take next summer at MAFA2017. (Download the conference brochure at http://bit.ly/2ifSOjU)
Fortunate enough to be a member of a MAFA-affiliated guild? You can jump on registration Jan. 2 before it opens to the public in Feb.

I will be teaching the Swedish Art Weaves at MAFA this year.  I am looking forward to it.

Do you mean we need to follow the payment process for PayPal, and we will be able to use a credit card at the end, or literally, NO credit card payments accepted?

The Wisconsin contingent is planning to attend again this year.  Well, at least 3 of us, and one lives in Illinois:-)

...but I think registration opens at 9 a.m. eastern time.

First: an apology. My computer died--brown bread dead--and I was trying to set up yesterday AND keep with with the online activity. (Desperately need a moderator for this group!!! Any volunteers?)

Two: Registration opened at 9 am, as you likely know. MAFA is using a PayPal transaction gateway, which means that those who want to pay by credit card can--but need a PayPal identity, i.e., an account.

More questions? (I have a working computer as of this morning)

If you want to attend MAfA 2017, register asap. Five workshops are already full and have waiting lists! But there are plenty of workshops with open spaces--and they're all taught by world-class instructors.

I am in the New Millennium Fibers workshop with Heather Winslow - my first choice.

What did you get?

[email protected]

I am over the moon at getting my first choice, Weaving a Bench with Walter Turpening.  I am also looking forward to the opportunity to visit so many other terrific workshops.

Queezle

This looks like such an inspiring conference!  I look forward to reading about your experiences, please keep updating this thread.  Francine, those benches are so beautiful, what fun that will be!  And Theresa, new millennium fibers looks so fun!

While I love the wide open spaces of life in the west, it does make for long transportation to get places...

Weaving in a Parallel Universe with Linda Hartshorn! I also signed up for submitting to the Fashion Showcase and participating in the Sample Exchange as a commitment makes me move.

Can't wait to meet you all in July!

The family had already planned to meet in New England and then go to Philly in July.  The MAFA conference was just between so I will get dropped off at camp for a long weekend.  I had met some MAFA members last year at Vavstuga who talked up this conference.  I will take 8-shaft variations with Tom Knisely. Much of what I know about weaving is through his published work and i really look forward to learning more from him directly.   I signed up for the sample exchange.

sally orgren

...and they were very fun!

I hope one of you will share your sample book with the rest of us.

Char

I was torn. Sounds good AND I've heard nothing but good about him and the courses he's taught.

...along with Spady (Block Party), and Faulker (East meets West).

FYI, Kay Faulkner comes to MAFA from Australia. She has traveled extensively, and she was on my radar because we don't often get to take instructors from overseas or with vast international experience. Her blog is often fascinating. https://kayfaulkner.wordpress.com/

I think more than 200 folks have registered so far, so it can't be just the five of us!

I waited too long (11AM - go figure) to register - and my first choice, Linda's class was full. So I am waitlisted for it. But, not to worry, I got into Tom Knicely's class - so that makes me very happy! I took a class from Linda this past summer - she is a great teacher! And, yes, I did sign up for the sample exchange.

Can't believe I forgot to register on the 2nd.  By the time I got myself together, several classes had filled up.  Probably for the best.  I tend to dither.  I applaud the new registration system.  But for the indecisive among us, there was something oddly comforting in declaring first, second and third choices and leaving the rest to fate.

I'm in Rosalie Nielson's huck lace class, which is filling fast.  Kay Faukner's East Meets West is still almost empty.  I may switch.

If you registered early and indicated a table loom, you may want to re-check your options.  The choice of loom with table or loom, no table has been replaced by table loom with stand or table loom, no stand.  Much clearer!

I heard that the Weaving in a Parallel Universe class was filled by 9:30A. LOL - I was still in the shower. After reviewing all the class offerings, I feel they are all good. I should check that table loom with a stand thing. Can't wait! Have already made plans to ride with someone!
