Hi all,

I have a early 1990's folding dobby loom that could use some spring replacement.  I have taken up slack just too many times.  In any case, does anyone know where I can get springs and what tension pull they should have?

I think that I remember seeing a posting  a long time ago, but I can't seem to find it....

thanks ahead of time

Terry

I'd just go to the hardware store and see if they have the same size. We have replaced many parts on my AVL immediately and in expensively by going to a local hardware store. Especially over a holiday, not to mention international shipping, in my case. :-/ Cheers Laura

thanks for the post Laura. Unfortunately I live up in the mountains with no hardware stores nearby, so I was kind of hoping to be apply to order something via Internet (not from avl). But, I can take a spring or two next time we go down the hill.....

If you find out about (what I now know is called) tension-pull, please tell! I have tried to ask for specs to no avail... but that maybe was 'cos I didn't have the correct terminology.

I have this info from Bill Koepke.  To define a spring you need to know the free length, diameter of coils and thickness of the wire.  I have not tried to use this to get some,  but  have kept the info for a while.  Maybe you can try it.
