Have to sift through a lot of gravel to find the gems. I typed "sprang bags" into the search engine and I got many more useful links at the top of the lists. Also try searching "sprang stockings" "sprang hairnets" "sprang sash" "sprang belts" "sprang braiding" Wikipedia - Sprang http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprang Sashweaver - Carol James" website has video tutorial of plain interlinking and figure 8 warp http://sashweaver.com/ Stringpage.com - Sprang info http://www.stringpage.com/sprang/sprang.html Regia Anglorum - Anglo-Saxon and Viking Crafts - Sprang http://www.regia.org/sprang.htm Middle Kingdom Textile Artisan Guild Click on the various sprang articles http://mktag.org/projects/content.html Doni's Coptic Bag Sprang Project http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/donisfuff/coptic.html Ellen Shipleys Weft To My Own Devices sprang article http://wefttomyowndevices.blogspot.com/2008/03/sprang.html Ronald and Blue's Web Site with Sprang and Nalbinding English Version - Click on pictures to read about Techniques http://www.denblauwenswaen.nl/engels.htm Jen's Coptic Sprang Article with links to other articles http://genvieve.net/sca/copticsprang.html Sprang Article from House Ebarra Early Period #7 http://www.housebarra.com/EP/ep07/11sprang.html Article "Old Egyptian Lace" by E. Siewertsz Van Reesema published in Bulletin of Needle and Bobbin Club http://www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/articles/nb20_lac.pdf Edited to add: I found another sprang book online at http://www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/topic_sprang.html Egyptisch Vlechtwerk [Sprang], Holkema & Warendorf, 36 pages. Siewertsz, Egyptisch Vlechtwerk [Egyptian Lace], V. Holkema & Warendorf's, Uitg-My.N.V. Amsterdam, N.D. 48pp. [Instructions included, with photos. Also photos of currently interlaced pieces from classes. This is what we now call Sprang.] I don't read Dutch, but there are dozens of excellent pictures. The book was scanned as picture so I can't put the text into a translator without typing it all in. Mar 1 2011 Linda, in sunny Courtenay says: Try searching on her name. (Van Reesema) Google gave me a rather interesting translation. The main file was too big, but the article was also posted in sections and those could be translated. I discovered frequent uses of "wire"... which I eventually worked out to mean "thread" or "yarn". BOOKS "The Techniques of Sprang: Plaiting on Stretched Threads," Peter Collingwood This is THE BOOK in English on sprang. Out of print. Sometimes available through used booksellers. "Sprang Unsprung an Illustrated Guide to Interlinking," Interlacing and Intertwining, Carol James New book, very readable, starts from plain interlinking and develops into various forms of sprang. "SPRANG Language & Techniques" Jules Kliot, 2nd Edition. MONOGRAPHS "Threads In Action" Virgina Harvey, Quarterly Journal included articles on Sprang.
