I find their site extremely slow and times out on me. I was looking for 10/2 non merc cotton.

That might be your computer or connection.  It is never slow for me.

Before I say what happened on the Webs site today, I should state that both my computer and connection are fast.  I have high end DSL, and I make my living writing software via VPN on remote machines.  Other sites were normal speed.

I tried to buy some linen warp for an upcoming project.  When it came time to make a payment, I was passed over to PayPal (it took 2 tries).  I authorized the payment, and was sent back to review my order.  When I clicked "Place Order", I got a web server error and lost connection to their page.  I got back to their page and looked at my orders.  The order was not there.  However, I have authorized a payment.  I called them.  The first time I called, I got a message that the call could not be placed at this time.  Half an hour later I got through.  The customer service person said that she could not look at my orders yet because the order would not appear in my account yet, and she would not be there tomorrow because of snow.  I should try again Thursday.

In addition to the order in limbo, all pages were frustratingly slow.  I wonder if I will fail to get the sale price on the warp because the order won't be finalized until Thursday.  The whole transaction feels off.

In the past I have had better luck with them, but they are not my supplier of choice except when they have a significant sale on items I need.

I've been on their site before Sally, just browsing and I never had it be this slow or timeouts before. Anyway, I was just trying to find some 10/2 non merc cotton. Seems there's 16/2 or 8/2 at most weaving places, but hard to come by 10/2 as non merc.

Everyone knows (well not really) I'm on dial-up, so it's slow that way anyway, but today the site was a different experience than before. There is a nice little Firefox tool that allows me to cut off a lot of bloatware from a site to speed things up. ;D

Iv'e never had an issue with WEBS other than they have some items backordered, my internet has been awful lately and assuming weather related

Dawn, the internet is pretty big, and I suppose things along the chain can make things slow. We haven't had a major storm where I live for a long time. We have avoided all those big snow storms of northern New England. The latest storm in Boston will barely leave an inch up here. Those poor souls in northern MI have had close to 300" of snowfall and still snowing off those darn lakes.

I just tried to purchase some yarn there for a good part of 2 hours, partly browsing the yarns, and when it came to checking out and paying that place is an absolute mess. I even get a word of caution from my browser over there. So they have some sorting out to be had.

The new Yarn Barn of Kansas catalog just came in the mail and they have it on BIG cones, like maybe 4 pounders.  You pay by the cone, no wind-offs.  It's down at the bottom of the page and easy to overlook.

ReedGuy

I will check it out, sounds awesome. :)

Lunatic Fringe Yarns also has some 10/2 unmerc. cotton, in naturally colored cotton and some mill ends.  I am weaving some towels now with some of their naturally colored yarns, just lovely to work with.

Try Georgia Yarn Co -- that's Michael White of the Macomber group here on Weavo.  I don't know if he has what you need, but his prices are unbeatable.

Sequel. . . can you post a link to the page with the 4 pound cones?   I can't seem to locate it at all!

ReedGuy

SallyE, this is the only one I found, and got two cones. That's a lot of 10/2 yarn, but I have plans for every yard of it. :D

I finally got though to Webs very early this morning while the rest of you weavers were still asleep. HA! LOL :D ;)

Yeah, ReedGuy, me too! I was having the same problems as you, shut out. But this a.m., pronto!
