My used Harrisville 8H/10T (of which I've only dared use 4 shafts so far), has gotten a little dusty while I've been busy earning yarn money.  Right now, it is patiently awaiting a warp.  Can any of our experienced weavers offer some tips for care and feeding of our loved, but sometimes neglected looms?

In most cases, using a dust cloth to wipe the surface clean is all you need.

If any of the parts have gotten sticky or corroded, gently clean them - and then concentrate on getting that next warp on the loom.

Be careful about using any oils, waxes or other sticky substances around the loom as they might rub off on fine fabrics. Also take care never to put anything on surfaces requiring friction that might make them slick. Pledge dusting spinning wheel rims is a prime example.

Be careful when you use the shovel to clean it out. ;-)

Thanks for the warning about the cleaners -- I was about to grab the "Pledge" and have at it.  I'll use the microfiber cloth instead.

Also, the straps that hold the apron bars (terminology?) are some kind of nylon fabric (2" wide folded and stitched) that is really fraying badly.  Am I playing with fire to try and replace them?
