Anyone know how to pronounce this?  I figure since I have one, I should know how to properly pronounce it.

thanks!

As I don't know Finnish, I can't say where the emphasis (if any) should be - but I do know that the uu is a long o - "booook".

Hi Kirstin

Isn't the "long o" in American English pronounced like "oh" or as in "joke" or "boat"?  The sound in "book" isn't the long o sound.  Is the "uu" sound like "book" or like "boot"?

thanks

that just shows the advantage of being a native speaker... didn't think of boot. So: how about boooooot?

(I'm not good at the differences between Brit an Am english either - but I *think* both joke and boat have a diphtong?)

It's been about 30 years since I attended the Varpapuu Summer Weaving School but if I remember correctly the emphasis is on the first syllable

VAR-pah-poooo

cheers,

Laura (who stands to be corrected by someone who actually knows)

VAR-pah-poooo is right I think. That is what I say. But I just call my Loom "Big Pooh"
