I'll start! I was reading the introductions and saw that there are quite a few Canadian weavers here!

I'm Frazzlehead and I live on an acreage just outside of Edmonton, Alberta. I've been spinning for a couple of years now, and got a loom just this past winter. I have a Leclerc Tissart 2 harness (tapestry) loom on which I do ... well, plain weave, obviously, but that makes me happy all the same. I love how quickly a work progresses on the loom compared to, say, knitting, and I love being able to use my handspun yarns to make real fabric.

With life being so busy, I haven't got time to spare to go (physically) to the local fibre guild meetings, so virtual groups like this one help to fill the gap!

I'm actually going to Olds College Fibre Week next week (just for a day class) and very excited about it. I'll come back and tell you what I saw!

 Hi there everyone!

I live in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec and I own 2 looms. A 45" Leclerc and a 60" Leclerc Myra. Both are 4-shaft. I am presently doing some tests to make a tablerunner as a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law. I will also be starting on cotton rugs within a few weeks.

I like to use the patterns at this website :

I also love the patterns in Handwoven magazine and on their website.

I'd like to make a small tablecloth for my mother-in-law for Christmas...but I'm having problems finding a simple 4-shaft pattern. Do any of you have any suggestions?

Can't wait to hear about other Canadian weavers... where they purchase their fiber, patterns, kits, looms, etc...
