My main loom is cobwebby and surrounded by so many objects that I can't tell what might be lurking underneath it.  Scarey!

Several years of my being on the road has caused Stuff to accumulate all around the feet of the loom, in front of it, under it, and on both sides.  My other looms (rigid heddles, all) are accessible -- but this one has 8 shafts, and I need it for the other interesting Dares I intend to pick up during HalloWeave.

This challenge is to dig the loom out of its grave, chase off the spiders (and whatever else is down there), and start weaving!  Just start.

Other challenges will follow -- but first:  dig!

Ruth, I'm sure your floor loom will heave a sigh of relief (in appreciation), come liberation day!

Dust him/her off,(does your loom have a gender, or indeed a name? Mine's a she, and is often called 'a thing of beauty'!!)...and get ready to weave.

Hi

You also have a loom collecting dust? Well, at Group Spook news of another soon to be liberated loom is very welcome indeed!

We look forward to seeing some pictures...

If a loom has been buried , is then unearthed and then warped and used is it a Zombie loom???

B P (not verified)

Hey Karren your comment made me laugh, I think you could be right ...Zombie looms!

I wonder how many buried looms there are out there waiting to become  Zombie looms?

I have a loom that needs hardware! I moved many long years ago, had to take the loom apart for transport and storage, and somehow the hardware got separated from the loom and is just simply gone. I got a parts list for the loom from the Leclerc website so I just need to get off my duff and go get the stuff. Most of it's available at a hardware store and Leclerc says they have some "archived" parts. I just need to figure out what I can get locally and what I'll need from Leclerc. So, long story short, I think I'll add this into my Halloweave month - daring myself to get that loom up and running, or at least get the parts together. Thanks, Ruth, for providing the impetus!

I think a loom with missing/replaced parts could be described as "Franken-loom"!

Now we just need a Franken-zombie-werewolf loom, and we're in business!  :-)

Hi Kitty

That's an excellent idea to re-fit your loom...thanks for adding this dare to our Group Spook list!

Actually, I'd settle for finishing just one! My AVL is trapped by a summer-and-winter scarf and my Artisat is hiding a bamboo Bronson Lace scarf. They are both challenges that challenged me right into not finishing them...grrr. I have the best chance of finishing the lace scarf and it is a very pale ghostly grey so that's my goal. Wish me luck!

I'll take pictures of it's current state and post it in my projects tomorrow. I'll update as I can. Nudges appreciated!

Just start ?  Seems pretty easy,  but I haven't done it.  I have two long neglected loom projects.  A set of napkins on "Baby" and wool fabric for vest on "Harris".  I glance longingly at them at least twice a week.  I grab a more portable project and get outside into the sunshine intstead.  Today is a cloudy rainy day -- perfect go clean off the cobwebs and get weaving.  Thanks for starting the thread.

Well.  The loom-to-exhume saw the light of day briefly -- then we had a house guest arrive, and guess where the "hurry-and-clean-house" stuff went???

I like the idea of weaving on a Zombie!  In France they're called "revenants" -- literally, "those who've come back".  Zombie weaving is definitely what this loom will be doing, as its current warp needs to get quickly used up before the New Scarey Dare can be set up... and it's almost the last day of September, so I need to get on it!

Do you want to see photos of the buried loom, before and after exhumation?  I didn't take a picture of the stuff that originally got cleared away, but I can take one of the "guest mess" that's there now....

By the way, for some reason my looms don't have names.  When I get everything cleared out from underneath, though, I'll take a look and see if it has a gender. ;-)

Ruth, please do post some before and after pics! That would be nice.

If referred to using the French language, would your "loom with no name" be le or la? (Might be a clue as to it's gender...)

I have not touched my loom a nearly a year and I miss it greatly!  I did manage to clean the studio and find the loom and now my dare is to get the towels woven off!  I thought joining in the group would bring me encouragement!

I'm holding off on this project until I finish weaving the overshot sampler, since I don't have enough time to work on both at the same time. But the Franken-loom is starting to groan and rattle its heddles everytime I walk by the spare room...
