Hi, I'm Rob (Roberta) and I moved to San Antonio a little more than a year ago.  The Southwest School of Art and Craft is a wonderful place here in SA.  I have been studying tapestry weaving there, and this term am enrolled in the studio weaving group, working on a Navajo-technique wall hanging on a 4-harness floor loom.  The pelasures of working in the studio with other weavers has led to a huge collection of fantasies about future projects!

I'm marie, in Austin.. and also the group moderator.  I learned to weave sometime as a kid, I don't remember exactly when but it was in Sweden and there were looms sort of everywhere.  My mom, grandmother and all my aunts wove.  My great grandfather was a dye-master.  I really started focusing on it in my late teens, though.. and wove quite a bit then. Then I went to college, picked a practical profession (landscape architecture), did that for some 25 years, managed to get married have a kid during that time, and ended up with some serious health issues (cancer) and career burn-out.So I  quit and decided to go back to the fork in the road not taken, and back to weaving. I think it saved my life.  Next year I'll be VP and program person for the Austin guild, that shouild be ... fun.  Meanwhile I go back to Sweden periodically and take classes at Sätergläntan, which is just awesome. I weave on a 4 shaft CB Glimåkra-- I'll be upgrading it to a CM at some point, but I"m in no hurry. And I also weave on a rigid heddle (Emilia) which is great fun, the rest of the loom herd is my old, old 1977 Minerva I got for my 20th birthday (ahem), an inkle loom and some weaving cards.  I've been thoroughly enjoying the rigid hedddle-- it's a great counterbalance, so to speak, to the big loom.  I love to weave with linen, but am trying to get a hang for wool. I find it much harder :)

Greetings.

While I am a former long-time resident and wife and mother of native Texans--I live and weave (or is that live to weave) in Colorado now. I visit the Lone Star State several times a year to visit family.

I am always looking for fellow weavers to commune with in the San Angelo area. This visit (in a week) I will be traveling to Dallas for an overnight. Is there a weaving store in the greater metro area for me to visit?

Thanks in advance,

Denise

Hello, I haven't actually begun to weave yet. I'm in the knowledge gathering stage of my journey into weaving. I live in North Richland Hills with my daughter, son, son-in-law and my beautiful granddaughter. I had a minor stroke in 2006 and am now retired so I have all the time in the world to learn. I'm looking forward to reading what y'all have to say.

Hello, I have been away from this site for a while. I live in Fort Worth and belong to The fort Wort weaver guild. We are a diverse group that meet monthly for most of the year, we also have workshops at least once a year. If your interested I can send you more info.

Hello Teresa! I live next door to you in North Richland Hills. I am only just now getting into weaving myself. I have a potholder loom at the moment, but am hoping to make a couple looms when I get paid next week. Does the Ft. Worth weaver guild take people who are just getting started and is it limited to membership only if you live in Ft. Worth?
