I know there are lots of resources available for double weave.  I have a book from the Best of Weaver's series.  I know all of Paul O'Connor;s books are available online but don't have the links.  

Anything else we can use to begin learning about double weave?

Ooh, I am up for this! I am doing a finnweave sampler (yet again!) on my backstrap loom and I want to do a real project with finnweave now...enough with the sampling!

I just bought a new 10dent reed in hopes of playing with double weave sometime, but I also warped on a bunch of cotton for towels for Xmas gifts. I'll have to weave every day to finish in time to start the doubleweave experiment! Not to mention I just started a new job. This will be great stress relief therapy! I am thinking about using Jane Patrick's Idea Book. I know there's a section in there about Doubleweave.

Think of it this way, when you weave off all those towels, you will have your Christmas gifts finished, way ahead of time!

I plan on weaving a small fringed shawl with sequins placed in tiny double woven pockets. Something I've never done before!

I want to do a wool blanket - never tried before.  I have lots of yarn, but will be a race to set up as I am going in for Surgery next Tuesday, but expect weaving will be a good way to speed my recovery.  Just need to plan the warp & get it on this weekend.  I finished my last groups of shawls last week - 12 yards of warp - my longest to date.  Pictures to follow shortly - still doing the finishing.

Aaargh!  I have no idea what to make.  I have just purchased a lot of fine wool and I have a brand new Julia 8s countermarche loom.  Problem is, I have a scarf on the Julia.  I have to start weaving quickly!!

Jane Patrick's book looks good.  I also have the Weaver's book on Double Weave but haven't looked at it for a while.  Vacation put me waaaaay behind.

I decided that I would make doublweave Cotton Clouds' HalloWeave focus. I just blogged about our doubleweave kits.

Here are a few of our favorite tips for mastering doubleweave, particularly weaving fabrics that will unfold to twice their size:

  1. Loosen the sett at the fold or use fishing wire with the your fold selvedge thread to keep your warp from crowding.
  2. Bubble the weft for wide fabrics to help maintain even selvedges for wide fabrics.
  3. Get friendly with a temple. It will keep your fabric at a consistent width while you are weaving. 

We are having fun watching everyone's HalloWeave progress.  What a great idea.

Weave a V by Kerstin Fro:berg is about weaving a V-shaped shawl (or scarf) using double weave.  She gives instructions on how to derive the tie up for weave structures other than twill for both rising and sinking shed looms.
