Hello,

My name is Franco Rios from Sacramento, Calif.

I started weaving a couple of years ago. I also do some spinning. I have an Erica Rigid heddle loom and a couple of homemade frame looms.

I have a blog called Franco's Fiber Adventure

Have a good day!

Hi there Franco and Noreen!  Another little loomer here!  I think I've grown to love my itty bitty looms more than the larger kind. Like you two, I make my own looms, usually to suit the project I'm working on, and just love how versatile they can be, as well as their portability. I may even start converting my local Spinning and Weaving Group over to them -  well I live in hopes, hehe! I am currently making itty bitty little sari silk tapestry bags, just big enough to hold a cell phone or an MP3 player, and will post pictures once I get the time and work out how to upload photos. cheers, Caroline in Australia

YAY!  thanks for starting this group... I was here the other night thinking about starting a group for people who like to weave "small" with a focus on little projects.  I came back last night and here you were!

Hello to all the whimsy weavers!

I hope you'll post some photos real soon, I'd love to see the little silk bags!   Are you doing real fine weavings with the sari silk thread or are you using the recycled sari silk?  I need to order some of that some day soon...  I've only seen photos of it on line and it looks sooooo delicious... I love the colors and texture.    Either way, I'm really anxious to see what you are are doing with the little bags.

My weavettes, inkle loom, homemade frame loom and I want to join!  Yeah!  A photo of the scarf I made for my daughter on my 4" weavette is on my projects page.  Right now I am weaving more 4" and 2" squares out of Noro Silk Garden to make a shawl for me.  I want to figure out a good crochet edge for it, but I am not much of a crocheter!

Hi Kathkol!

A woman after my own heart! ! love your little silk purse! Its what I'm doing at the moment, and it even looks as if you have been borrowing from my bead stash, lol!

Just a thought - if you are not too sure of your crochet skills, why not use blanket stitch around the edges, then you can easily join the pieces without having to crochet. It will look good whether you use the same yarn you are weaving with or a contrast

Cheers, Caroline in Australia

I've posted a couple of not very good photos, I have to take some more, but check out Kathkol, she has made a lovely blue one!

Cheers Caroline

You are right, Caroline, our little silk purses could be related - but for a few thousand miles.  Giggle!

The blanket stitch is a good idea.  Thanks!

Hello Everyone!

I am so delighted that Weavolution is up and running!

And so pleased to see that our Small looms group is off to a flying start :)

We've been away and I am scrambling to catch up, make re-entry and meet deadlines.

Here's a recent bit of small loomery:

I've just posted a tutorial on how to weave on a pinboard loom to darn your sockies.

Here's the link:

I was just thrilled to find 3 netting style shuttles at second hand stores while we were on holidays recently.

I made a pattern from one of them if you would like to give it a try.
It's a wonderful little shuttle!

I've made a pattern for a netting style shuttle from a vintage shuttle that I bought in a second hand shop.
Today,I used the pattern to make a new shuttle from an old ruler, and it works great!
