Used to live in Fla. and parents are in Lakeland.  Always wanted to find weavers down there to visit when I came down, but mother informed me "they don't do that down here".  What kinds of things do you all weave....I wouldn't think wool would be to big a thing down there.  Look forward to hearing from you.  Maybe next trip to see grandkids will be around a meeting!!

Florida has many very active weaving groups, from south Florida to the Panhandle. When you return to the area, check the Weavers of Orlando web site for meeting times, etc.  There is also a group in Polk county, nearer to Lakeland.  As for materials, anything goes, but  tencel, cotton, soy silk and non-wool fibers are the primary trend here, although there is some wool.  I also am rug hooking, so thrift store wool is big for me, felt it, strip it and hook away.  Kumihimo is popular, as well as other fiber related methods.
