Hi Carla, Laurie and the other owners of a Weaverbird. I do not own a Weaverbird, but I am building a counterbalance system for a Macomber 56 inch 16H loom. If anyone has pictures of their counterbalance system and would like to share you can contact me at whpenfield at hotmail.com on IM me here on Weavolution.

Thanks,

Michael

Michael, the Weavebird is countermarche (some shafts are pulled up, the rest pulled down).  It uses a set of weights which balance the weight of the individual shafts so the treadling is very light.  That could be a big plus on a Mac if you could figure out the engineering (not simple).  There are some good pictures and short films here:

If you need a better look at any part let me know and I will see if I have a picture somewhere.

Thanks laurie, I have seen the video. I have started building a protype and I am working out the weights right now. What I am trying to do is add just the right amount of weight to help with the lifting of the shafts. To much weight and the shafts go up and stays there. What I would like to see is a picture of the weight pocket, the side of the loom with the weights.

Thanks,

Michael
