Love the group name.  What peak is that?

I live in Frederick CO -- have lived in the Denver Metro area since 1983.  I learned to spin from Maggie Casey in 2001 and learned to weave from Judy Steinkoenig just last year (2008).  If I may brag, Colorado is one of the best fiber-arts places in the country, if not THE best!

i have a forlorn avl dobby loom.  it has moved more than it has woven.  looking for any way to get some weaving mojo back into my life.  i am in estes park.  forever, i hope.

Welcome!

I took the picture while climbing Mount Bierstadt.  I am not sure what peak it is though.

I also spin and weave.  What are you working on now?

Welcome to our little group.  What can we do you help you get back into weaving?  The Estes Park Woll market is an annual inspiration for me!

thanks for the offer.  august is all mine, and this new site has given me inspiration to use it to weave.  i have a warp wound on the avl (but not sleyed) that has lost its calculations.  i feel like i've forgotten much more than that, so maybe i can come here when i feel stuck.  until then.....i've got a friend coming to help me get into trouble at the wool market.  hope you enjoy it too!

Hello I just joined this group. I am in Pueblo West CO. Have just learned and/or still learning to weave. I love it!!! I just got a drop spindle but haven't got started on "learning" that technique of spinning, use to do it years ago so am hoping it won't be too frustrating to pick back up again. I love the handspun yarns especially for weaving.

Hello from Beautiful Woodland Park

I should be weaving right now but could not resist exploring this wonderful new site and all the potential opportunities it presents.  So my beloved 60" 16 harness AVL sits  here next to me, sighing lonesomely.  I hope over the months to meet many new weavers in this group and do hope that some of my friends find their way here also.  Course I'll be pointing them in this direction.  Loom is naked right now, but I have a 14 yrd warp to paint and then put on, plus the yarns are pulled and ready to be put on the warping board for the project after that.  Ah....bliss.

Hi folks!

I live in Thornton and have been weaving for 3 years now. I've got a 15 yard warp on the table loom threaded for 8 shaft huck towels. I think I'm about 80% into the warp. I've been playing with graph paper and seeing what I can come up with. So far it's been great fun. I have another warp ready to tie on and play some more!

Hi! I live in Gothic, 8 miles north of Crested Butte, in Gunnison County, at 9,500 feet.  I have two AVL looms in our mountain cabin.  I bought the first one in 1987, after 20 years of weaving and teaching with 4-shaft LeClerc floor looms. I used the dobby bars and pegs for the first 3 years and bought my first compu-dobby box in 1990. I have used the bars and pegs several times since then and am very familiar with mechanical dobby looms. Maybe I can help the weaver who is stuck with her AVL? I really like weaving software, too.

I have been weaving since 1967, more seriously since 1970. I do some spinning and more dyeing but I spend a lot of time on weaving and designing woven textiles and writing about weaving and teaching workshops for weaving guilds and conferences.  I have a website:  www.bonnieinouye.com

Hi Bonnie!

Our complex weaver's study group has been working through your book for the past year. I for one have been enjoying myself immensely and learning a lot. I wasn't sure how much of it I'd be able to actually do on my 8 shaft loom. I was pleasantly surprised!

I am glad to know that you learned a lot from my book.  I know that the exercises will work well with 8 shafts (or 10, 12, 20, 24, 32...) but some people give up when they see that most of the examples are for 16. I did all the weaving. Now I am nearing the end of my stash of printed books.  I have about enough for another year or so but have stopped supplying the wholesale business.  I need to decide what to do next.

Fluffi, you are in Thornton, so I guess that you belong to the guild in Denver.  Right?  There are study groups in Denver and in Boulder that have been working with my book. I will be teaching in Denver next April.

I have just joined the Denver guild this year, although I've been in the Boulder guild for 5 years. Our study group in Boulder is using you book right now.
