I am Juvonda Jones and I live in the Seymour area.  We just moved to a 26 acre farm and have purchased our first 7 suri Alpaca that will arrive about June.  I have been a weaver for several years, mostly rugs but have started weaving scarves and want to PLAY.  This Spring at an Alpaca Farm day event I purchased my first drop spindle (Turkish) and I have made 2 balls of yarn.  Nothing else yet.  At each farm visit we made (about 20) I would get new ideas and of course add to my stash.  Now, I am organizing my sewing room after our move 3 weeks ago so I will be able to sew, weave and spin.  My hope some day is to be self-sustaining on our farm.  I currently have 2 looms, a 36" Union Floor Loom, and a 4 harness Schacht Baby Wolf Floor Loom.  I just need more time in my day.  So much to do, so little time.

Hi,

I'm Karen (CraftybearIndiana) from Fairmount which is in Grant County about 8 miles south of Marion, Indiana.  I am 1 hour north of Indianapolis.  I am just now beginning to learn to weave and have 2 floor looms.  I also crochet, paint, sew, quilt, spin and now weaving.  I am 53 years old and love to meet other crafters.

I highly recommend the guild Weaving Indiana.  That would be a far drive for you, juvondajones, although you'd still be welcome.   When I learned to spin, we had to start with a drop spindle.  That was so much harder than the wheel.  Sometime I'd like to try a drop spindle again so I can spin when I can't take my wheel, but I wonder if it's something I can really learn.  I just remember how clumsy I was when I tried before.

I worked at the Bloomfield State bank way back in 1976-1979.  Way back in the dark ages.

I didn't move to Bloomfield until 1989.... about 10 years later.  And only because I married a Howell!  We just moved out of Bloomfield and we are now in Bloomington (as of November)  :-)

Hi Kathy,

I was delighted to hear that there is another weaver around here.  I work in Princeton and live in Haubstadt.  I haven't done any weaving since I moved here in 2008 but used to do art fairs for a living.

I have 2 Fireside 54"  jack looms one 4 harness and the other 8 harness, a 2 harness table loom and a 4 harness LeClerc.

My name is Tauria Catlin and I live in Franklin.  I've been weaving for about two years on an Ashford Knitter's Loom and just got a Baby Wolf 4 harness.  I'm thrilled!  Is any one here in the Johnson County area?

Hi Tauria.  I live on the east side of Indianapolis.  If you ever want to attend the Weaving Indiana guild (it's just north of Indianapolis in Fishers), you could always drive up here and I could drive the rest of the way.  We're a great group.  The web site is www.weavingindiana.org.
