It's super, folks!  I worked with it all afternoon yesterday.  I had to refresh my "chops" with network drafting and advancing twills a bit.  SO far, it's great and full of new horizons!

It's on my "Order Today" list!  I do (and teach) quite a lot of this kind of thing by hand, but have been resistant to the Photoshop approach.  However, I am curious and willing to give it a try.

It is really worth getting into!  I took Alice's Jacquard workshop a couple of years ago at AVL and it was just a revelation in terms of designing for both the Jacq and the dobby.  I'm so glad that she has done a book devoted to just the dobby, since more of us can afford that than can afford a Jacquard.

Alice's explanations are clear, concise and really push you to explore more.

I am anxious to see the book, I ordered it also, I hope it has photoshop elements instructions.  I have found it VERY difficult to translate from PS language to PSE and I don't plan to put out the $$$s for PS so I have great hopes for this book.  I took the workshop with Nancy and enjoyed the workshop but did get bogged down in the PS versus PSE language.

Deb, she covers "Elements" really thoroughly.  I wanted to work with that in my "Windows" side of my Mac but had a lot of trouble getting the trial version to download and install.

I have been using the Woven Pixel ideas for dobby design for a couple of years now.....I am curious if I need the new book, if it covers anything that is not already covered in The Woven Pixel??  I use Photoshop, not Elements, so if the book focuses on Elements, I have my answer.....<g>.....does anyone who has the new book also have The Woven Pixel??

Went to the book signing in Asheville NC and bought her book. It is really a great book for those of us who use Dobby looms. I used it on two towels recently it was just a sample/ towel warp and had a lot of fun using this method. I had a class   at Haywood Community College on photo shop Elements and had recently worked thru a book using this program. She explains both ways of working with photo shop and with elements. She said that she was aware that a lot of people used the Woven Pixel  with dobby  looms and that this new book goes beyond what was in the Woven Pixel.  Two pictures are on this site and if you want to see more they are at:  http://not-ufos.blogspot.com/ Two were designed using Bonnie Inouye's book Exploring Multishaft Design prior to my receiving Alice Schein's book.  Happy Weaving
