I'm anxious to try my hand at weaving Rippsmatta -- or block weave designs.  It is a warp faced weave structure.  Anyone interested in joining me?

I am always interested in a WAL and my rigid heddle loom is empty at the moment so now is a perfect time.

What did you have in mind? I have never tried warp rep because it uses so much yarn but I could give up my frugal ways to try a structure I've never done and am very curious about.

Claudia, count me in

What is this language you speak? :)

Google is our friend ...is this what you mean?

Still count myself a beginner although "Dorothy" has lived here a good long while. Have been winding warp and gearing up to thread  the loom for another attempt.

Thank you so much for googling that and posting the link for those of us who read the weave structure names, scratch our heads and go ''huh?'' :-) That is a very nice visual explanation.

Hi Laurie,

What you found is a better example of shadow weave. If you want to see a pretty example of rep weave take a look at this: http://dustbunniesundermyloom.blogspot.com/2008/11/rep-weave-repeated.html. It's a weave structure that is warp dominant. It uses a lot of warp yarn because you set the warp threads very close together, similar to backstrap weaving Laverne and also similar to inkle weaving. The weft is hardly seen because the warp is sett so closely together.

Here is a nice description of rep weave: http://www.allfiberarts.com/library/aa02/aa011202.htm

The third picture in Laurie's link shows the warp faced version so I got the idea.

Those bags in the blog link that you posted Claudia are very nice. Thank you.

I spent an hour looking at your Dust Bunnies (enjoyed the link to your website!!)

Have supplies on hand to try Backstrap weaving - maybe not this KAL as a 1st project though? ;)

Have a Dorothy 4 harness tabletop loom. Was thinking of using Sock Yarn from stash but this KAL appeals as well.

Is there a threading pattern for a 4 harness loom to go by suitable for this KAL?  For an "A-Long" it might be helpful for us very rusty beginners to have a step 1 - DO THIS TODAY (/this week).  Have been rereading my Learning to Weave book so I now remember how to read the pattern. Tie up and Treadling terms needed sorting out. It's been a while since I dusted off Dorothy.

Looks like you have enough interest to get started.

What's the plan? I'm game.

We are proceeding with the rosepath project Laury Fry published in Weavezine. I'll be posting more information in the next two days. It's a perfect WAL for you and your new Dorothy.
