This scarf was woven with Noro Silk Garden - two balls of the same colourway - with clasped weft joining in the middle.

I clicked on your link for your blog and expected to find more details about this scarf but it took me to a Verizon search feature.  I think there is something wrong with the link you entered.

I would love to read more about how this scarf was woven.  Did you do it on a RH loom?  Can you write more about clasped weft joining?  What were your reasons from choosing to do that?  what were you joining?

you are my inspiration.

Thanks sittie - I'm just having fun playing with yarn and my Saori loom.  Glad that you find it inspiring!  Part of the Saori philosophy is "Let's learn from each other in the group". - so I like to share what I am working on and see what others are doing!

Happy Weaving,

So sorry Claudia - thanks for pointing that out - I have it fixed now!

I wove the scarf on a Saori loom - which is a 2-harness floor loom.  It could easily be woven on a RH loom.

There is a video on YouTube that shows it - which is easier than explaining it in words.  It is an easy way to weave with two colours and there are endless possibilities.  It is a simplification of a tapestry type of weaving, requiring only one shuttle.  The YouTube video is here.  Let me know if you have any questions about the technique.

As for the reasons - it was just an inspiration.  I had been weaving a previous scarf with some beautiful Noro yarn that has lovely colour gradations (sp?) and I wondered what it would look like if I used two balls of the same yarn, but started in different places in the colour sequence and joined them in the middle.  I liked it and so did the whole scarf that way.  I'm continuing to play with this idea of 'Half 'n Half' and will have more to post in the next few days.

Happy Weaving,

Terri
