The pattern is from “A Weaver’s Book of 8 Shaft Patterns” page 141, #511

My first try with waffle weave and I really like it.  The magic is certainly in the wet finishing with these towels.  They are soft and bouncy and very absorbant.  They shrunk more in lenght than width so mine are a little too square, next time I will know how much to allow in length shrinkage.

The hems were done in the 8/2 cotton in the pattern - no plain weave.  I  machine stitched the hems before washing.  They do flair a bit, but not enough to worry about.

Sherie,

Great kitchen towels, almost too pretty to use.  You did a fine job weaving and photographing them.  Thanks for Joining the Weavolution!

Waffle weave is fun, isn't it?  Such cheery color choices...these will make dishwashing almost fun.  When I weave waffle facecloths, I use a finer thread to weave the hem area, still in the pattern, and this helps with the bulkiness of the three layers.  I usually use 10/2 for warp and weft, and then 16/2 or 20/2 for the hem sections.

Hey girl you did a great job!  I'm glad you are able to figure out the patterns in the books.
