Looms, Spinning Wheel, Cushing Dyes (60 Colors)

Cherry wood 26" spinning wheel handmade by Tom Siske in 1988. Siske spinning wheels are prized among spinners who own or are familiar with them. This is not a spinning wheel for beginners, but if you're experienced and want a wheel that produces fine to thick yarns, this one does a great job. It is very smooth, and I have personally spun yarn almost as fine as thread on this wheel. For it's age, it has some minor dings, but otherwise, in great condition. Includes 8 bobbins, handmade babinga wood lazy kate (made by an excellent wood worker), one original whorl, but you could have another whorl made. Beka cherry floor loom (yes, Beka made more than table looms, including a 40" floor loom), 60" weaving width, 8H, 10T, approx. 1000 metal heddles (no rust). The Cushing animal and plant fiber dyes were my favorites because I spun both types of fibers, sometimes in the same skein. They can also be used for scarf painting, dyeing reed for basket weaving, handmade reed ornaments.

I don't know the age of these dyes, but I have used some of them and the colors are still vibrant.

UNOPENED packs are 1/3 oz. each and will dye 1 lb. of fiber. 1 Cup white vinegar per lb. of fiber as the mordant. Add more fiber and water and the colors will be lighter.
