The only thing saving me from haunting the AVL site for a used computer controlled loom is lack of space to put it in. I can just fit my 27" David. When the kids are grown and I have their bedrooms back - watch out!

Hello All:

I'm Peggy in Utah.  I'm new to weaving with little experience.  I have been crafting for 30+ years.  I love fiber, and the animals that produce it.  I have a small fiber farm in Northeastern Utah.  I have a 32" Kromski rigid heddle and a Leclerc 4 harness/shaft loom.  I have completed only 1 project on my rigid heddle loom, and none on the Leclerc, but got it at such a good price I could not pass it up.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's projects and to be motivated to weave more projects myself.

Hello there:

I thought that Betty Davenport's new book, "Textures and Patterns for the Rigid Heddle", had some information on using the 2nd heddle.  I have purchased the book.  I'll have to look and see if that is a true statement.  I have both of her books and I think they are both worth purchasing.

Cool - I've dont traditional arashi shibori techniques, painting on silk, but have only just heard of / read about weaving in gathering-lines for woven shibori. Nice to see some great examples out there, thank you!

I'm looking forward to exploring with this group.

WOW!!!  A serviceable scarf from 40 years ago.  That's some great alpaca, and great weaving.  Would love to see a picture of it..  I'm spinning some alpaca now.  What ply did you use?

I use Lee Valley magnetic paint brush holders

They will clip onto a harness to hold scissors or reed hook while threading; or onto my bench to hold scissors, pins, needle for hemstitching,a pen, etc. while weaving. The only draw-back is that they don't open as wide as I'd like, limiting their use to clipping onto narrower things.

Hi I'm Mary and I'm a self-taught spinner who started weaving about 6 months ago.  I'm using a 4 shaft table loom which I built out of bits & pieces.  I love spinning and wanted something to do with the yarn I produce, but now I'm getting hooked on weaving for its own sake.  I'm fascinated by the interplay of colour, texture and pattern.  My projects can't keep up with my ideas and I'm still making a lot of mistakes, but learning loads.  I'm an enclosed Carmelite nun, so have relied on the internet to learn these new crafts, and think of Ravelry as my guild.  But I also listen to Weavezine and am excited about this launch of weavolution.
