My spouse's niece is pregnant. Yes, the one I started the handkerchief edging for! Let's see if I can get this done in time. The christening is going to be in December. I need to design, sample, and make the cloth in time for my SIL to make it. Given that last week included a 20 hour work day, what are the odds?
Here goes!
7/11/09 I've received the color sample - a piece of the sash Kerri wore with her wedding gown. I have a lot of 120/2 silk that is a close match, so that will be the fiber. I've designed a huck heart pattern that my SIL says to use. Now all I need is the loom! That is supposed to be delivered in a couple of weeks, but I've asked if it can be delivered sooner. I've never worked with silk that fine so I need to sample, sample, sample!
8/4/09 My loom is supposed to arrive tomorrow. To prepare for this, I'm doing a series of samples. The first will be a sash made out of Bambu 12. It is only 6,300 yds per lb, but it has some slip. I only got two ounces, because I question how ecologically same making it is. I also got some 20/2 cotton that I will play with (haven't decided what yet) to work with a finer set. I really want some cheap, fine rayon but haven't been able to find it yet.
