These scarves were inspired by a colour workshop at Convergence, where James Koehler introduced us to Goethe's colour triangle. Each scarf is a variation on the colour scheme Goethe described as "serious". I chose huck lace for reasons of economy - the silk was expensive and I wanted a wide sett! Having chosen the huck I then designed each pattern to use a shape corresponding to the dominant colour. I wove between 72 and 78" on the loom for each scarf, depending on what repeat gave me a pleasing result. If you are interested, there are several posts on my blog documenting this project: just click on the tag Goethe to find them. This was a lot of fun -- it suits me much more to explore colour theories by making things than by reading about them!
