Here are two photos (front and back) of one half of a rigid heddle, fire damaged, that I found at a rummage sale decades ago.  At the time I didn't know what it was, and clearly no one else did, either!

It's sad to see the damage, but it does reveal a little more of its history, including its rescue by someone.  It is dated 1828. This half of the heddle is 7 inches wide. Isn't it lovely?
