Hello!

I've become interested in danish medallions, and found a reference to an article in an old issue of Handwove. It's in the march/april 2004 issue and the article is called Beading with Danish Medallions (Christina Hammel). I wonder if anyone has this issue, and can tell me what the article is about? How long is it, is there a project etc?

I'm thinking about buying this issue, but with international shipping it's close to $20, and I'd like to know a bit more about the article first, is it worth it?

Thanks!

You might be able to find it cheaper through Webs or another shop, ebay, or the WeavingSalesAds yahoogroup.  Contents of this issue are here:

Index says it is on pp 40-45.

The article is well-written and clear, with a project.  It's a slow and simple but effective way of adding beads easily into almost any piece.  If you have a book that shows you how to do Danish Medallion (I like Virginia West's Finishing Touches for the Handweaver) then it is not too difficult to see how to slip a bead onto the loop  before you pass the shuttle through.

Have fun!

Hi Tina,

I have the Design Collection no 18 from Handwoven, and in that there is a project called "Heirloom Towels in Linen and Huck Lace", and they have Danish Medallion in them. I wove them some years ago, and they came out really beautiful. They were rather time-consuming, but very satisfactory to do. I haven't got any digital photos of them for the moment.

Thought this might be another alternative for you. (The Collection is about towels.)

Thank you all!

Laurie - it sounds like it's an article worth pursuing. I'll se if I can find it cheaper somewhere, or else save up my money to buy the issue.

Michael - sorry, no fax, only e-mail. But thanks!!

Ellen - Thanks for the tip, I'll look it up! I've yet to try danish medallion, but I like the more and more the more I read about them and see them.

Thanks again for all your help!
