I like the variety of the colors as well as the gray - in fact I really like the gray!

It's interesting to see the color differences on the gray warp. Great project!

What a fantastic project! Looks like it was fun to wind and weave with all the color changes. What are you going to do with the towels? If you give them away, your gift list will expand exponentially, and if you sell them, expect them to fly off the shelves like hotcakes!

Terrific project! You were probably able to keep swatches and start a notebook. What a great resource and dynamite learning project. Really nicely woven too!

Cathie,

Sadly I did not have enough warp to keep samples of all the colors only two.  But I have the images and it was a real kick to see what would come next.

Beautiful towels! Can you give a reference for Carol Berry's 18 towels on 4 warps. That is new to me. Thanks.

Carol Berry has self published that booklet - read about it online and contacted her.

She should be able to help you.

Is there a project like this for 4 shafts?

In A Handweaver's Pattern Book on page 31 is a pattern Twill blocks No 2.  As you can see there are two blocks you can vary the width of the blocks and change colors as you change the block threading and treadling.

It may not exactly duplicate - but you should be able to get a similar result.

I have not woven this pattern and have a note in my book that there is a tie up change - check on the errata.

Notes

This is an adapation of a draft from Carol Berry"s 18 Towels on Four Warps, One Tie-up.  I had been doing some other sampling with the Lunatic Fringe Grays and colors and found it to be interesting from a color point of view.  So I put on a long warp with the grays as warp and tried different colors.  A fun weave and very instructive about colors and value with the Gray.
