This is so neat! I can spot at least three lecture topics in this fabric and all are used very well indeed. I like the vertical lines of different colors and the way you have used this feature in the buttons. It makes me wish I were teaching The Big Twill again soon. Maybe some group will invite me. I am fortunate to have given this workshop in many places now, including a bunch of states, Canada (Quebec), England, and New Zealand.

I like the way you have used color to subtly point up both the structure of the fabric and the structure of the vest!

This is an exciting piece, color, structure, style of vest all working together. Even the buttons " belong". I love it . Enjoy wearing it and thanks for sharing your work with us.

Thank you all so very much for your kind words! I'm approaching my 5th year weaving anniversary and I finally feel that I'm ready to share my work!

Virginia,

I missed this post the first time around, but glad it popped up again! And I am especially thrilled to have seen it in PERSON! Your photos are terrific (and show off a great fit to boot!)

Thanks, Sally!

Here's a funny story about the "great fit". I sent the photos to my sister for her comments and she and a friend were debating whether the photo was of me in the vest or of my dress form in the vest and they decided that it looked just like me, so it must be me in the vest. Well, they were wrong! I had put a black turtleneck on my dress form and photographed the vest that way! So I guess my dress form looks "just like me"!

You are so creative.  I love the kumihimo trim.  So many of us like to do kumihimo braiding, but then don't know what to do with them except make beautiful keychains.  You are really an artist.  Please post more of your projects, even if they just seem ordinary to you.  I'm sure we will delight in them.

Notes

This fabric was inspired by Bonnie Inouye's workshop called "The Big Twill", which changed the way I think about weaving and pushed me to be more creative when designing fabric! The vest pattern is the same as the one I used for Vest #1 - again, thanks to Daryl Lancaster. I added buttons made from polymer clay in colors to match the fabric and braided miles of kumihimo trim as a finishing touch.
