I love it when the yarn weight matches the integrity of the cloth! I agree it will make a lovely robe...it would make a lovely anything! I would be interested in your next project! Nice stripes, too!

Deanna, I have been out to the film set where they are doing the filming.  I volunteered doing odd jobs around.  You can see it from my front window.  Love your fabric.  It looks great.

Nice job!  I came across this project and an Amazon review for the Lion 1878 yarn while searching to find out if anyone has used the Lion 'Fisherman's Yarn' for weaving.  (It's sold as a knitting/crocheting yarn, 465 yards per skein for about $12 - has a really nice feel.)  The Amazon review compares it to Harrisville's Shetland yarn, and $20 for a 2,000 yard cone seems like a steal. I'll definitely have to try some!

The fabric looks wonderful and your projects are so intriguing. Also kudos on the yarn "discovery".

Notes

I put on a simple fabic for my second film piece.  I used LB 1878, a cone yarn from Lion Brand.  It is 100% wool, about a fingering weight.  The finished fabric feels great.  I wish the yarn came in more colors.  I put a test warp on and did 15 epi, 12 epi and 10 epi for both plain weave and twill.  The yarn has a lot of possibilities.

I wanted to do a stripe sequence like my worn out shirt, but when I looked closer it is a very elaborate stripe sequence.  I simplfied it and got a nice stripe, thank you fibonacci.

The finished fabric is light weight and flowing.  It really could be used for a new testament period robe, I wonder what I can make for me on the next piece using this yarn.
