I was lucky enough to see this work IN PERSON recently, and it is just as stunning as the photo depicts! I put Tapestry weaving at the top of the pyramid of types of weaving for the dedication, skill, artistry, and on-the-fly decisions that have to be continually made in process. I always think it's especially amazing when a tapestry weaver posts, because I can certainly appreciate the time and work that went into the piece. Please keep posting!

This is a study for a larger work I'd like to weave.  In order to determine the sett I needed, I wove the most detailed area of the full image, the spinner's face, so I could figure out how much detail I could include or whether I'd have to work at a finer sett.  I've figured out what I need to know in order to start the full size version, so I just need to set aside the time to make it happen!

Since this is a medieval image, I want to use wools dyed with natural dyes. I'm using yarns from Renaissance Dyes in France, and I love them!
