Yarn tasting

My guild is having a yarn tasting in the spring so we can try new-to-us yarns. We will have table looms pre-warped with tencel, bamboo, soysilk, ramie and possibly silk and linen. Wefts will be each of these plus cotton, wool blends and whatever participants contribute. 

Does anyone have tips for using any of these yarns as warp and/or weft with themselves and other yarns? Anything that worked really well, handling tips, things to avoid, etc.
