Notes
The time came to proceed with a decision to clean the freezer of two old bags of frozen blueberries in the attempt to dye wool with it. The reminder when dyeing to use gloves should be required as I forgot not to grab the yarn in the pot and ended up with two fingers and a thumb purple colored for the day. Along with making blueberry I also dyed up wool with the solution of briar root dye that I made up last week. I am thinking of using these two with a band or two of plain neutral wool in a scarf but have not decided on a draft, type of weave or pattern of stripes / checks. FINAL :This weave is now done. The last thing to do before it becomes a gift is to do a wet finish and dry. As it turned out, the briar dyed yarn was lighter than I wanted it and I underestimated the total quantity of that color - so the project has a shorter finished length than I had planned. The grey mix yarn did real well for the blueberry dyed yarn. I finally decided on the draft of which I had to edit and redo after starting to weave. I see that is the sure-fired way to find any mistakes in the draft and my treadling sequence. The actual finished size is 4 &1/2 feet and 6 &1/2 inches wide. Still have to figure out how I am getting so much weft shrink as it was 2 warp yarns in each gap of my homemade 4 DPI reed. I also did a twist finish on the fringe with my homemade yarn twister that I put together last week and cost about $6.00 in material to make.
