I spent last night, on Bonnie Inouye's advice, printing out simulations of the eternity-knot motifs at different spacings, rather than laboriously rethreading for samples. And I spent this morning (before work) draping all those printouts over a dress form to see which I liked best from five feet away.
Here are the three top contenders. (Look only at the top part, the lower parts are a different spacing.)
I think my favorite is the first one (which corresponds to the medium-medium spacing in the first set of samples). Because the motifs are spaced a little closer vertically than horizontally, it has a slight vertical line, which will be slimming, and it "feels" well-balanced to me. In the second one, the stripes are a little too wide for the figure it's draped on, and in the second, the strong vertical line distracts from the double-happiness characters. So I think the first one is what I will weave up. But I'm curious what other people think, especially if you disagree!
Whatever I choose, I'll be putting on the new warp soon. This will be a (gulp!) 27-yard warp, made using my AVL warping wheel and my Workshop Dobby Loom. I've done a 16-yard warp successfully, so i *think* it's feasible...but helpful suggestions are welcome!
