Hi Claudia,

The sample looks lovely. I have done shadow weave in the past as well but only used two colours. With the four colours you are using the result is very surprising. I hope we will see the end result of the napkins.

Kind regards, Els

Hi Claudia,

I am in love with shadow weave. It has so many possibilities and I want to start collecting up all the drafts. I just made a sample with two colors and was a little disappointed. It was suggested I try four and I will certainly do that especailly now after having seen your beautiful piece. I too was much happier with mine after washing it. I made my sample into a sewing kit purse with a zip. What are you going to do with yours?

Wonderful Claudia. I've only seen shadow weave in two colors too. So I agree with emhoog. The colors really pop out in your face. Really fun to try it out. Would love to too.

I love the shadow weave - what beautiful napkins they will be.

Notes

I wound the warp for these napkins about 6 months ago and beamed it on one of the back beams on my TOTT loom.  I was distracted by a shawl I wanted to weave first and finally have returned to the napkins.

This is just the sample I did before beginning to weave.  I wanted to check for shrinkage and draw-in so wove for abou 12" and took it off the loom and washed it.  I love the results!  I am now working hard at finishing the napkins.  I am planning to weave 6 napkins using a different treadling pattern for each of the six.  All 6 napkins will have the same warp and weft colors.
