Designing
Scarf planned with hood and 2 pockets. Place a row of Brooks Bouquet as a decorative border on the ends which will become the top of the pocket when folded up.
Weaving
Acrylic yarn was chosen as inexpensive fiber to test the design. Red Heart worsted acrylic saved me money, but was extremely difficult when making a new shed. The fibers would grab causing extra movements to ensure the shed was open completely across.
Finishing
Scarf had no drape until washed. After machine wash (warm water, gentle cycle, low dryer), it softened yet still firm. When worn the things I did not like, the slight stiffness and grabbing fibers, became an asset. The scarf lies nicely in attractive folds and does not need a pin to stay in place.
At the current length the hood would have dropped straight down, without a wrap around the neck. I decided to not seam the center back for the hood. For style, one end has a large pocket; the other end has fringe.
Due to the dark color the decorative border design on the pocket does not show up very well. Perhaps two rows of Brooks Bouquet would have added more emphasis.
The pocket is extremely handy for me. I made it 10 inches deep to prevent the worry of things falling out.
(I will have photos of pocket added tomorrow.)
