these keep turning up on ebay

8 EZ Bob Bobbin 2.5" Weaving Kumihimo Braiding Craft

they are just perfect for miniature weavings and narrow warps when speed is not an issue.  I love to use them because, with a narrow warp, when I am sampling a miniature design or making bookmarks, and want selvedeges, even my smallest shuttles tend to fall, then unwind several feet while falling.  These can dangle forever without unwinding and are small enough to slip through even the sheds on my table loom.

As I said, they keep turning up!  Somebody occassionally offers a box of 40.  I am able to wind up the colours I use most frequently and just have them handy for sampling.

Those look great.  Far better than the old  film containers with coins inside.  I'll have to look for some at Rhinebeck, at least I can save on shipping while I'm there.

thanks for posting this, I would never have thought to look in the kumihimo tools for options but this is a good one.

The EZ-bob bobbins are great with the kumihimo disks. The only tension is whatever you apply when inserting the threads/yarns into the slots around the disks balanced by whatever light weight you hang on the braid.  Since the tension is much lighter than when using a marudai and tama for braiding, the disk braids are much looser and more flexible--more like a fatter yarn, as opposed to the more solid cords from the marudai.  Neither better nor worse, just different.  It just depends on the results you want.

One nice thing about the EZ-bob for weaving is that the yarn stays enclosed and protected from warp-abuse until you reel it out.  On the other hand, the Susan Bates yarn bobs are much cheaper.

Cutting cardboard or credit cards etc. into bobbin shapes is even cheaper

and some people love their 'butterflies' wrapped around fingers.

These are great little bobbins, however they are very light, which may or may not be an advantage. He has them in different sizes and its so easy to keep your yarn tidy. I keep meaning to buy some more.
