Hello Weavers!
I would like to ask for your ideas and suggestions on a fun project for my weaving kids please...
The project idea.... 7 tote bags that double as seat cushions, made on a 4 shaft/6 treadle loom, out of a machine washable material, that is nice and sturdy, and comes in lots of color choices. The shoulder straps can be made on an inkle loom. I'm thinking I can make the cushions removable - so perhaps the totes will be the only part that's woven by the kids?
The inspiration... We spend a lot of time (about 6 months/year) sitting in ice rinks watching my two boys play hockey, plus the practices and clinics they attend. We also go to a lot of Jr. A games with the kids. These totes/cushions will get used A LOT. Our kids like to bring stuff to keep themselves busy in case they get bored (imagine!), so a tote/cushion is the perfect solution. Did I mention the seats are ice cold!
My kid's are ready to give treadles and shafts a try, and I've acquired a Leclerc Compact 4 shaft which seems like it will work size wise for them. I would welcome any suggestions on yarns, setts and structure ideas (keeping in mind the weavers are kids). I might want to put on two different gender specific warps, as the boys will probably want to go with Canucks colors, and the girls would probably love a rainbow of colors.
Thanks in advance! ;)
