It's here where I am in Australia and I gave myself a late start at work and managed to fit in 90 minutes of weaving before I left home.

I'm working on some projects for a local show that have to stay under wraps for a bit longer so no pictures. I'm making a couple of knee rungs in 4 ply knitting wool.  The first warped 2/dent in an 8 dent reed was a nightmare, I think the yarn was hoping to be mohair when it grew up, and there were mistakes everywhere.  For the second, the real one, I changed to 1/dent in a 15 dent reed and it's as though I put a new warp on the loom, no mistakes and no dramas, that's the way it should be.  What a difference for what looked like a minor change in the sett

boy am I out of weaving shape! But I did get about 13 inches woven and about 4 inches unwoven on towel # 1. I am getting back into the rhythm of weaving - my selvedges look great but my beat is a bit uneven so will need to work on that. Just felt good to be at the floor loom again. Now to knit for a bit . . . .

My start was not very exciting. Last year I won a prize and thought it would be fun to weave it this year. But after putting it onto the loom I lost tension. I am now sorting out this by drawing all of the warp through from the back and re tensioning the lot.

My other project is to do some 4 shaft peg weaving. I am warping my loom up and am making key pegs a different coloured warp so I know where to change to get the pattern. Its something I haven't tried before but when the guild said they wanted to do a project on different things to do with a peg loom I knew I had to give it a go.

I managed about 20 inches on the rug last night as well as packing and labelling goods for a market at the weekend.  I hope to finish weaving it tonight so that I can get it off the loom and take it with me to do the fringing when I am away for a few days

and am planning on more tapestry.  Wove on the tree for a bit yesterday and I was surprised at how quickly I was able to get back into the groove with it.  Also wove one repeat on the scarf.

Yesterday was an inauspicious start to the month of daily weaving, as it started at 4 am and I finally returned home at 7:30 pm. Thankfuly that doesn't happen very often!

I did take my knitting with me, but I mostly just stared at it during the brief breaks of the meeting. When I got home I fussed with the warp on my rigid heddle loom and recalculated some design stuff. I did work on some very preliminary design ideas for a 3-d thing I want to do with rep weave. Alas, no actual weaving occurred. Today will be better.

more inches woven on towel one - less unweaving this time around. I am taking a break cuz the weaving room is really warm at the moment and I don't want to have to crank the AC any lower. So will relax for a few minutes and then knit for a bit. Oh yes, and enjoy the thunderstorm and cooler temps that rolled into our area!

down several more to go. I am getting back into the weaving groove after nearly 6 months away from the floor loom. (I can't believe I have been away from it for that long!) I think towel #2 will have twill in the stripes and tabby in the body. . . .

This week, I finished the second drall towel on my "demo" warp for the Varpa, then hemstitched and started weaving the third.  Last night, I realized that I managed to miss the knee beam when tying on.  This was weeks ago.  Haven't made that particular mistake in years.  So I went ahead and cut off my first two towels and re-tied.

Towels are in the dryer, along with a charity blanket from last year.  That was my first run at ball-stitching two sections together and I kept putting off wet finishing, thinking I could clean up the seams a bit.  But it HAS been a year.  So far for Halloweave, I've managed to grow my hemming pile by two towels and a blanket.  If the loom doesn't sell this weekend, I'll run off another towel.  If it does ... time to face down the demon Ashford.  At least it isn't hemming.

New loom is just crossing the 46th parallel south-west of Newfoundland, headed for NY.

Today was a bit of a work day, but I did also get to weave a bit.

And then unweave and rewarp. Sigh. I am getting good at this.

I just wasn't getting the sett I wanted for my rep placemats. I think I am going to be so annoyed when I only get a few placemats out of all this effort! But I also did a bit more brainstorming on the sculptural 3-d thingy I want to do with rep weave too. And I appear to have caught somebody's cold. So I think my evening will be filled with buckets of tea and some low energy knitting.

Not too exciting here today. We dropped Carol off at the tain station, went to coffee, then went to work on the redevelopment. Well we took turns until TAJ went to nap, then Oliver and I both tackled the new site together. We've made some good progress today. Once good progress had been made, I went out to beam the fabric I'm preparing for Oliver and TAJ. I think I'll do a bit of sprang after TAJ goes to bed.

on the holiday mats.  I aquired a couple of AVL endfeed shuttles a bit ago and decided to use them on this warp.  WOW!  is all I can say.  I have used endfeeds before, but not with this much success.  I must have finally set the tension just right because this project is weaving up like a dream.  I am still using my double-bobbin shuttle for the pattern weft, but for the body and the hems (a lighter-weight yarn) I am weaving with the AVLs.  The one drawback is that they are heavy!  I think that on a wide warp the weight will really be handy but I just hope this does not inflame my elbows as I have issues there.

I've been out of town at a conference in Tasmania so not a lot happening. I did finish the knee rug before I left home and brought it with me to do the fringe. About a quarter is done but I've been in a hotel with a great view over the water where the Sydney to Hobart yacht race finishes, so spent time just looking out the window rather than working on the fringe. I did wear something handwoven every day including my stars and diamonds jacket from Halloweave, probably 2011, to the dinner last night - does that count?

Wove about 8 inches on the scarf today.  Might not have enough weft, so I'm contemplating what to do about that. Matching dye lot is basically impossible as I bought the yarn a year ago. It's ombre varigated, so I might get away with a random solid section in the scarf, blending background colors.

Re-lashed on for the umpteenth time and sampled different wefts for the painted warp on the table loom.  Still a few tension problems.  Am considering cutting off and/or rebeaming.  I beamed under tension, with warp sticks, so it shouldn't be that.

I think most of you know, I have written a paper comparing the textiles of Europe and the Middle Eastin thr Middles Ages. I am entering it, and the subsewuent samples in an Ats & Sciences competition at a Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) event. Last night, I started binding the "book". I am using my first failed shawl as the cover. Here is a photo of my make shift book press and binding under the press.

Been weaving, unweaving, cutting off, tying on.  Best not to joke about Penelope.   I reworked the cloth beam cords on the Ashford to be more like the original instructions.  Wish I could find the instructions... I retensioned the warp and put a piece of tape to mark the height of the first shaft. This will help me avoid over-tensioning when I advance.  It won't keep me from under-tensioning, necessarily.  Hence the unweaving part.  In pixeloom I finally figured out how to print just the liftplan in a large enough font to see.

My nephews are only interested in winter scarves in their school colors and they are bored with plaited twills.  I was thinking pinwheels, so spent time fooling around with lines of demarcation and reversals of spin.  Probably not all that practical, though.

on the tapestry and ordered a bamboo hanger for it.  Now to pick up a piece of fabric for the back and hem it up.

Finished weaving one holiday place mat and have started the second.  Once the pattern is woven on each end it is really fast weaving.

Well I couldn't resist it. There was a dobby loom on ebay. Only £77 ($123). I have to go about 10 miles away from where it is to see a new business venture anyway so I thought it just has to be.

Will not be able to do anything with it until end of halloweave but its exciting. I have also been sorting out my peg loom. One of the ladies at school has seen my scarf growing and wants to buy it from me. My first sale - and I wasn't even making it specifically to sell. So definitely a result

<p>The mohair is off the loom! I wove several samples, twill with wool, plain weave with wool, satin with wool (which so far is my favorite), basket weave with mohair, basket weave with wool, basket weave with different wool, and finall twill interspersed with plain weave in mohair.</p><p>I managed to break 2 nails finishing it up today, don't ask. Now the question is do I put the linen warp on as a taquete or wind a new warp to use as my taquete warp? I definintely want to use the loom to play more with taquete, just &nbsp;have to decide on the warp. Handwoven just posted tips on weaving linen, which is perhaps a sign from the universe.</p><p>Now all my looms are naked and we're not even half way through Halloweave! I do need to get designing.</p><p>Yesterday, Iwent to the Cambridge Guild of Weavers, Sprinners and Dyers Come and Weave day. There I saw the magnificent samples of a Guild member who completed the Handweavers Studio's diploma program. I so wish Icould undertake this program, but I think TAJ has a bit more growing up to do before Ican tackle such a rigorous rpgoram. IN the mean time, I am continuing my journey using the Certificate of Achievemet Syllabus, which occasional peaks at the Certificate of Excellence Syllabus. So I am now even more committed to a more systematic approach to my weaving studies. Tonight I plan to get my Google Drive files in shape and cut some cardstock for yarn wraps and yarn reference cards for my design notebook.</p>

hour last night and then this morning I have been working through my pile of hemming. I have 10 towels, a monk's belt runner, a rep weave runner, a boundweave piece, a Swedish lace bread cloth, and an overshot baby blanket ready to hem. . . . I hate hemming but need to get through tis pile before I get the new towels off the loom!

Last night I did some sampling with the warp on my rigid heddle loom. And then I did some more sampling, but with knitting. This is all in vague goals towards sculptural-ish things lurking in my brain. I may need to get some more of that wool wrapped steel yarn. It was FUN to play with.

In "other ways to distract myself" new, husband and I picked up paint chips, argued about things for a bit, then surprisingly came to an agreement for painting/redecorating our dining room, which currently houses one of my looms. Guess I need to finish that warp too!

Also due to that dining room decision, I need to figure out what to make to cover up the ugle metal electric panel. I tend toward woven/textile. Add it to the list :)

Last week passed in a blur, I got home late and with a cold but still had a scarf to weave for the show to say nothing of work every day and out most nights.  By using every spare moment, winding the warp on in a half hour gap between getting home and going out, getting up early and doing 20 minutes before I went to work as well as weaving most of the weekend, I got the 3 projects finished and into the post yesterday.  I know I did something weaverly every day last week.  Fortunately this week is much quieter and I will enjoy weaving off the second half of the warp that's still on the loom.  Pictures to come
