These are an old project that I was really proud of. I had used the snowflake twill several times and this time decided to incorporate color. The wall of cones at my LYS and the color on the mountains in the fall inspired the colors. I finished the first 7 yard warp, and because I had more yarn wound on another warp and tied it on in front of the reed on the last half yard, after I cut off the rust based set. The second set was purple based, I just shifted the colors around. When I finished this set, I wound a third 7 yards, this time green based. When I tied this warp on, I used Jim Ahren's method of tying on. I wound the new warp on the back beam and tied it onto the old warp behind the shafts. I tied carefully to keep the tension even, and when I pulled the knots through the heddles and reed, I was able to continue weaving and wove off the last 7 yard warp.
This project was fun to do. I love the colors and the sets of three towels that it gave me. I also did some practice on tying on a warp and I was very pleased with Jim's method.
