I prepared this list in pdf format. I will place it in Drop Box, because pdf files are not yet supported in forum uploads.

The idea of generating this list was to establish a database of places that sell weaving yarns and supplies, teach weaving, or otherwise would be of interest to weavers. (I did not include the local knitting and yarn shops at this point.) I was trying to focus our energies to contacting weaving-specific venues, since we have limited resources in time and money. And identifying the owners or decision makers to whom we can address a more personalized message on behalf of Weavolution.

I did not think to add formalized textile programs (and their faculty or department chairs) to this list, but that could be a next step. After initial electronic contact, (to establish that their students might be interested) a small packet of postcards (25?) could be sent to them to inform their students about the social network. (There are usually bulletin boards in these classroom areas with stuff of interest to students, like contests, grad programs, notices of openings, etc.) A lot of these textile programs may not be identified with "weaving" specifically, but may have weaving as part of their broader art education offerings.

It might be hard to find these schools. Judie E is a great place to start if she has a list. And keeping ahead of the dept or faculty changeover is tricky, if we want to maintain current contacts on this list. We want to cross check Judie's list with ours to eliminate redundancy.

Yes, it's becoming 1:1 marketing.

Which takes WAY more time to execute (as Claudia can attest!) But I really like her idea of just reaching one weaver each week, building one step at a time. And repetition, repetition, repetition. Can't be stressed enough. It's nearly 2 years, and finally, when I mention "weavolution," one of my guildmates *might* say, "Gee. I think I have heard of that." (Of course, we want to do a dope-slap to our foreheads, but we just have to stay patient and encouraging to the newbies, so we continue to build a weaving community that will be there when the rest of us retire! ;-)

Thanks for everyone's help. The August 4th meeting works for me.

I want to add a big thank you to everyone.  Our group meetings energize me and help me to move forward.  As a group, you are the most helpful, most positive, hard working, best cheerleaders for Weavolution I have ever had work with me.

Thank YOU all,

Claudia

I am just trying to find time for bathroom breaks and meals this week, and I can't believe you people have followed up from the 4 o'clock meeting already!

Hope to come up for serious air in a week or two. Drowning in deadlines right now— thanks ever so much!
