Welcome to June. June is coming in wet and stormy here in Texas. The humidity would make it a great time to be weaving on linen! Laughing Here's hoping everyone has a productive month of weaverliness. I am looking forward to seeing all the goodness you produce. Weave on!

I cut the yarn ends and added the buttons to the cowl. Two steps remain to finish. Take a photo and post a Project page.

The Crannog Center is not quite on our way back, but if we go to Edinburgh again  I'll try to remember to drive out to it!

I did finish weaving TJ's scarfax today!! Now I will do a but more playing around with the rest ofthis warp, which mayou include a bit of summer and winter using the straight draw threading. I know doing so will reducation my number of pattern shafts to 4 instead of 6, but it seems a fun experiment. :)

Tickets to Nova Scotia booked.  Discovered small carry on luggage actually fits my new laptop - an unexpected development.  I was sure I needed to buy a bigger one.  :)  13 lovely weavers signed up for the lace workshop - room for 5 more.  Now to start preparing the yarns/drafts and get them to a courier (because Canada Post/union are threatening lockout/job action).

10ashus - good progress on your cowl.  I loved the pattern you selected, and find it so clever to use the fringe to make the button holes.  I look forward to seeing your final product.

I've been gone 3 of the past 5 weeks, and so my weaving progress has been very slow.  Still working on the shadow weave, and trying to finish up that warp - I'm guessing there are another 2 dish towels in it.  Some day I might learn to take careful measurements so I might actually know (but don't hold your breath).

But my most exciting weaverly news is finding in the local classifieds  a used electric bobbin winder.  Clems & Clems double-ended bobbin winder,  with a foot pedal, and the photos in the ad look clean.  And she is holding it for me.  The only down side is that it will be an hour drive each way to pick it up, but I'm antsy, and rather than wait till the weekend, I might go tonight.   This type of bobbin winder, and a richer yarn stash, are the two (weaverly) things I lust after the most.  Embarassed

I just recently read about weaving accessories. Bobbin winders are one of the gizmos that are on my wish list. That and a boat shuttle. Good eye for finding the winder on the used market, Queezle.

Oli J found a route that meant the Crannog Centre was only 30 minutes extra driving on our way home. Sally, we'll send you the full resolution of our photo of the textile.

I was also excited to see they had some sprang on the go. I am sure Carol James will be excited too!

Oh my! I miss a couple weeks and look what AMAZING work y'all have done!! I'm impressed.

I did no weaving this month - busy prepping for launch of the book (mid-July, sez the publisher), launching a business based around the book, and preparing for my FIRST BOOK SIGNING, which will be at Convergence!! Unbelievably excited about all three, but also working my tail off for them.

and I was so impressed with the docents. Although they had their areas of expertise (forging, wood, etc.) the one who gave us a tour was also an excellent spinner using a stone whorl!

Here was the Sprang sample we saw a few weeks before your visit. (I would love to know who the weaver was.) Big thanks to Cally Booker for putting this on the radar!

We had the same tour guide. I asked a question about the way the wsrp weighted loom was set up and he said Diane was their weaver, but she wasn't in today. I am going to write and see if I can get in touch with her. ;
