I've just bought myself a old 4 shaft tabletop loom. It's my first loom and everything looks great apart from the back and front beam have either been removed or it didn't have them in the first place. I'm thinking they've been removed as there are holes where it looks like they went. Also I think it may be an old Weavemaster as the position where the back and front beam probably went look similar to some images Ive seen from a general Google search. Which incidentially they are not supposed to be directly above the rollers - the front, about one third distance from the roller to the shafts and the back is right next to the shafts. Which with the position of front would make it uncomfortable to weave.

My main question is - am I okay to weave without the beams? I have popped a few warp ends on and checked if the shed space sufficient and It's perfect. Or shall I make new beams?

There are looms that have no back beam and work very well, they usually have a very large warp beam.  If the loom is designed to have back and breast beams, it will probably not form a shed, or not well, if they are missing.

thank you - I had a feeling it would work, good to know other looms work well without beams
