I think Day of the Dead is a splendid celebration. Anyone have weaving ideas? I would like to make something to display this November 1.

Handwoven has an 8 shaft Hearts& Bones rosepath scarf project in the September/October 2013 issue,  according to a quick search. I'm not finding much for rigid heddles. As a crocheter,  though, here's a wild idea: if you can find a Halloween themed filet crochet chart, could do  lace weaving where the chart's filled spots are plain weave, and the cha rt's open spots are Bronson Lace. Not very colorful, though.

This is also what immediately came to mind for me.  You have to sign up with weaving today to access their free designs, but the only cost is a burden on your email's in box.

I saw that too cute scarf also. Considered ordering the pattern to see what and how I could convert the 8 shaft pattern to a rigid heddle. The thought scared me away.

I don't know if you'd be up for this challenge, 10ashus, but you could warp your loom without using the rigid heddle and instead make 8 "shafts" using dowels and continuous string heddles.  A friend who lives in Thailand sent me this picture of weavers, your shaft system would have to be similar.  It would be pretty complicated to do; I'm not sure I'd want to attempt it at this point.  Just an idea.

I made the Hearts and Bones scarf.  It is beautiful.  However, it takes a lot of work.  The tie-ups change multiple times through the scarf - background, hearts, skeletons, hearts, background.  And then you reverse everything at the other end of the scarf.  I used a Macomber Baby Mac.  I use the quick clips for tie-up.  I'd hate to think if I were using the tex-solv tie ups with the changes that were required for this pattern.

This would make a great Halloweave House challenge. What do you all think? Would anyone be interested in leading a Halloweave House on this?

See this video demonstrating how to do a row of hearts on the rigid heddle. We could make the Day of Dead scarf with a pick up stick.

Would floats be a bad idea for a scarf? The demo shows a plain weave row after each row of the pattern to lock it in.
