I was gifted a fabulous bunch (maybe 25 lbs) of various colors of lace weight wool. I have used it as pattern weft for coverlets, and it works great for that. I tried using 4 threads as 1 in warp and again in weft to make a heftier blanket, but the threads weren't strong enough and any touch with the shuttle popped threads. We'll not talk about that project, huh? Anyhow, does anyone know if there's a way to create a heftier weight cloth - like blanket-y - with this wool? I have so much of it. If not, I guess I'll be weaving a lot of fabric for shirts, etc.! Thanks!

Is it 18/2 wool? or finer than that? I don't know what lacey actually means. From what I read at vender sites the size isn't often defined. I have as fine as 26/2 wool. That stuff is pricey. The fine wool, I wouldn't want to use up in blankets even if I could. Maybe some airy scarves at a more open sett and slow motion beat just to see how it blooms into the open voids when wet finished. And some shirt material. :)

One cone is marked 24/2. It's a bit finer than 18/2 Jaggerspun and every bit as nice. Lovely stuff. Yup, probably looking at lots of fabric and scarves. Would make a lovely looooooong shawl, like a Scottish plaid? for general outerwear.

A plied yarn can be stronger than the number of plies times the tensile strength of a single strand, I believe.  You could ply it.

I sure don't spin. Might be worth learning!
